1:30pm ET - Maximizing COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution and Access for Medicaid Populations

This session will feature a panel discussion exploring how Medicaid MCOs can better assist state and local government officials and other leaders in the Medicaid and public health spaces in equitably and efficiently distributing the COVID-19 vaccines to Medicaid beneficiaries across the country. Each state is unique and this panel discussion will focus on the sharing of best practices that may be effective in getting more ‘shots into arms,’ particularly for at-risk and more vulnerable populations.

This session will feature remarks from the founder and co-chair of the Congressional Black Maternal Health Caucus, which aims to advance policies to improve maternal health and ensure equity. Following Congresswoman Underwood’s remarks, senior Capitol Hill staff members will join a discussion diving deeper into how Congress is addressing health equity issues and inequality in health care.

2:00pm ET - Fulfilling the Intent of the Medicaid Statute

Two health care policy experts – Sarah Rosenbaum and Dr. Lanhee Chen – will engage in a spirited conversation on the future of the Medicaid program, the intent of the Medicaid statute, and its critical role within American society. Professor Rosenbaum is the Harold and Jane Hirsh Professor of Health Law and Policy and Founding Chair of the Department of Health Policy at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services. Dr. Lanhee Chen is the David and Diane Steffy Fellow in American Public Policy Studies at the Hoover Institution and Director of Domestic Policy Studies and a Lecturer in the Public Policy Program at Stanford University.
